The 12th Malaysia Plan highlights the need to reform and do things differently. The themes of the plan, including “Resetting the Economy”, “Strengthening Security, Wellbeing and Inclusivity”, and “Advancing Sustainability” will be among the Government’s overarching guiding principles going forward.

The policy choices designed by the Government will need to help the transition to a greener, more inclusive and more resilient tomorrow. This pandemic has opened the door for us to reform our economy and seize the opportunity to chart a path that empowers everyone to face the future with greater confidence.

Malaysia, being an open economy, was not left unscathed by the pandemic. The domestic economy contracted by 5.6 percent in 2020, our country’s worst performance in terms of economic growth, since the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis.YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed
